Shift: Day Shift, weekend call and holiday rotation
Compensation: Commensurate with experience + 3.25/hr variable shift differential.
Hours Per Week: 32-40

CT/IR Technologists cross over to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in dual modalities and demonstrate competency in both CT and IR specialties. They adjust and operate diagnostic CT and IR equipment to produce diagnostic images of designated portions of the body to meet the national standards for dose reduction. The CT/IR technologist works under the direction of a Radiologist and/or Provider, following established procedures and policies. They provide hands-on, caring, and compassionate patient care with an emphasis on maintaining organizational values and standards of behavior. Must be able to work variable shifts, weekends, holiday, and call.

Essential Functions:
    • In-depth knowledge of organ/bone/vasculature cross sectional anatomy
    • Scrubs in and assists Radiologist and other physician specialties in performing a variety of interventional procedures (needle biopsies, tube placements, abscess drainage) maintaining a sterile, safe environment while working with blood, body fluid and tissues
    • Prepping and use of variety of diagnostic and therapeutic catheters, guidewires, needles and mechanical devices
    • Extensive knowledge of complex endovascular therapeutic devices
    • Knowledgeable of radiation safety procedures and utilization of dose reduction technology
    • Knowledge of utilization and insertion of proper size catheter/needle needed to deliver proper/safe volume of contrast for specific vascular protocols
    • Safe administration of IV contrast using pressure injector followed by flushing agents to central venous catheters utilizing sterile technique
    • Assesses and monitors patient for allergic reaction to contrast material
    • Providing procedure specific education to patient
    • Practices infection control and aseptic technique
    • Prepares and cleans equipment to meet disinfection or high-level disinfection standards
    • Monitoring supplies and inventory as needed
    • Facilitation of cost control in use of supplies
    • Positioning and operating complex imaging and monitoring equipment
    • Operates portable imaging equipment and assists with endovascular procedures in operating room environment
    • Works with ionizing radiation and is responsible for patient and co-worker safety
    • Verify order with protocol and correlate with patient medical history
    • Must remain current with operational skills required in CT and IR, including the ability to recognize how to tailor exams both independently and in collaboration with the Radiologist
    • Perform CT Angio requiring advanced scanning techniques and increased patient care
    • Understands and maintains patient confidentiality, associated HIPPA policies, and other hospital policies, procedures, and standards related to communication
    • Knowledge of multiple computer systems: HIS,RIS, PACS, CT and IR modality specific
    • Trouble shoot simple electrical and mechanical issues on equipment
    • Appropriate documentation and workflow completion in RIS and PACS
    • Schedule patients for procedures

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or
  • Completion of Accredited Hospital Program (RTR)
  • Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • CT Certified or Certified within 18 month orientation period
  • Current License as a Radiographer in the state of Wisconsin
  • Current CPR certification or be eligible to complete within three months of hire
  • Knowledge of day-to-day operations of a medical imaging department within a hospital setting
  • Patient care and effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures
  • Competence in the care and service to our patients and customers of all ages
  • Knowledge of standard precautions and associated techniques
  • Patient and clinician safety measures (e.g. proper body mechanics, safe patient movement, isolation, etc.) used during provision of patient care
  • Cross sectional anatomy (organs, bones, vasculature, and physiology)
  • Computer software/hardware * Venous access (ability to start IV's) * Vascular technique (neuro, abdominal, peripheral, and cardiac)
  • Sterile technique * Knowledge of day-to-day operations of a Medical Imaging Department within a hospital setting
  • Patient care and effective communication and interpersonal skills * Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures
  • Competence in the care and service to our patients and customers of all ages
  • Knowledge of standard precautions and associated techniques
  • Patient and clinician safety measures (e.g. proper body mechanics, safe patient movement, isolation, etc.) used during provision of patient care
  • Must be able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year experience in IR is desired
  • Knowledge of EPIC, RIS and PACS
