About the role The Manager of Business Analysis and Solutions is focused on the vision and strategies of the group while managing the tactical components of running the daily business. This position is designed to focus on ensuring we are receiving optimal performance from our technology, vendors and strategic partners. Primary responsibilities include leading a team in support of the business division. Responsibilities also include Project Management on key initiatives as needed. What you'll do in this role
- Management of Team and Business Unit: Leads a team of Analysts/Configuration Analysts/Specialists. Provides direct oversight to the team(s), providing team members with coaching, feedback and developmental opportunities, including: Setting clear expectations and holding employees accountable for performance, overseeing training and development of employees directly and indirectly and making effective staffing decisions, building appropriate bench strength, ensuring employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements, challenging and inspiring employees to achieve business results and motivating them through leadership and by celebrating successes.
- Management of Production Support and Projects: Management of work in-take, prioritization, and capacity for efforts across divisions. Management of issue triage and resolution. Make scope/schedule/resource (including budget) trade-off decisions with little or no guidance - ensure commitments are tracked and met. Ensure line of business priorities and IT capabilities (technology and resources) are aligned through prioritization-management and effective communications. Exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and standards for obtaining solutions. Take lead role in high visibility and high impact projects. Acts as key decision-maker.
- Tactical Execution: Ensures team and all team members are meeting or exceeding service level goals. Maintains knowledge about procedures and workflow, monitoring for timeliness and accuracy and adjusting as needed. Develops and prioritizes annual goals that will provide framework for goal setting for all positions within the team(s) and monitors for successful completion. Provides regular reports to upper management, including service level metrics and prepares scorecard results. Actively monitors staffing needs.
- Strategy: Actively seeks to improve accuracy and flexibility with services provided and seeks to enhance customer and partner experience to ensure it aligns with company goals. Partners with Agency Services Operations Director/AVP to set strategic direction for increased productivity for respective areas and drive execution. Drives team to identify and implement process improvements that will increase overall efficiency, quality of work and lower unit costs. Supports budget cycle by providing relevant information.
- Representation and Collaboration: Establishes and maintains positive relations with all external and internal distribution partners, Symetra internal contacts, and customers. Actively participates and, if appropriate, sponsors division initiatives. Identifies potential impacts to team(s), including procedures and workflow. Prioritizes team/department projects and assigns appropriate individuals to complete them.
- Executive Presence: Conducts formal presentations on behalf of business unit for employees, executives, and/or internal/external partners. Be available for travel and presentation opportunities as needed. Fills in for AVP/Director as needed.

Compensation Salary Range: $91,200 - $151,900 plus eligibility for annual bonus program Who you are
- Experienced people leader; adept at building relationships with internal and external partners, conveying needs, and setting clear expectations.
- High attention to detail to catch discrepancies, errors and irregularities in data that can impact decision-making and outcomes.
- Skilled in setting performance benchmarks, evaluating analyst outputs and providing coaching.
- Skilled at conducting root cause analysis to identify underlying issues impacting audits, financial data quality, or compensation processes.
- Strong problem-solving ability to make sound decisions quickly when challenges arise and to guide analysts through complex issues

All newly hired people leaders with direct reports are required to complete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra's corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
