The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director for Financial Services, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the accurate monitoring, analysis, and reporting of financial activity related to the utility budget. This role ensures the integrity of Facilities and Operations' Energy Management System, "Energy CAP," maintaining and updating monthly reports and spreadsheets for data accuracy.

Responsibilities




  • Data Management and Reporting:



    • Maintain and update monthly financial reports and spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy of financial data.
    • Gather information from various University and departmental systems to prepare reports and conduct audits, proactively identifying discrepancies and variances.
    • Collaborate with senior management across Facilities & Operations and other University departments to resolve inconsistencies, communicate updates, and address processing issues.



  • Financial Analysis and Forecasting:



    • Conduct analyses to forecast utility usage, staff payroll, service contract expenses, and other financial metrics.
    • Process standard and recurring financial transactions in line with University and departmental accounting standards.
    • Use benchmarking data to develop projections of utility expenses for proposed capital projects.



  • Compliance and Special Reporting:



    • Lead the preparation of detailed carbon emissions reports to ensure compliance with commitments like the NYC Mayor's Carbon Challenge and The Climate Registry.
    • Utilize Energy CAP for energy data benchmarking and reporting to meet Federal, State, and Local regulations.



  • Research and Reconciliation:



    • Perform independent research and complete reconciliations to meet departmental and University finance deadlines, including monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end close.
    • Oversee data compilation and maintain data integrity through audits and reconciliations from multiple databases.



  • Project and Policy Support:



    • Develop and provide custom reports as required and assist with the implementation of internal financial policies and practices.
    • Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Associate Director.




Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree required. Advanced degree desirable.
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in accounting, reporting, or budgeting is required.
  • Strong technical skills are necessary, including extensive experience in reporting and data analysis, as well as advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines is essential.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills are also required.
