About Georgia Tech Professional Education at Georgia Institute of Technology

GTPE has provided professional and continuing education for more than a century and learning at a distance for more than 40 years, we enable working professionals and industry partners to access the expertise of a world-renowned research university. We offer professional development courses, certificate programs, and master's degrees to career-focused adults in STEM and business fields worldwide. Our programs are designed to position professionals to deliver immediate workplace impact using knowledge and skills learned from Georgia Tech's faculty experts and each other. Learners can also take Georgia Tech's Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), which are produced by GTPE. We deliver programs in a variety of formats including face-to-face, online, hybrid and at corporate sites, to suit the distinct needs of working professionals. GTPE also administers K-12 outreach and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs and manages learning-centered meeting and conference facilities in Atlanta and Savannah.

Job Summary

Georgia Tech Professional Education is seeking an outstanding individual with exceptional knowledge, experience, and instructional skills to join the Professional Education team as a Lecturer in Project Management. In this position we seek an academic, business, or government leader with subject matter expertise in the areas of Project/Program Management, Agile methodology, Scrum framework, Leadership skill training, and related fields.

The Lecturer in Project Management will hold a faculty non-tenure track position to teach and to work with other Georgia Tech faculty to develop new courses that meet learner and employer demand. Expectations of the position include providing high-quality instructor in courses in the Project Management area. The lecturer will also collaborate with others in developing and expanding impactful, and sustainable programs in collaboration with partners across Georgia Tech and in collaboration with other GTPE departments. The position will support a variety of professional development and training activities and collaborate with instructors, TAs and others in delivery of quality training and professional development programs and activities.

The individual filling this position will report to the GTPE Academic Program Director in Project Management and core hours will be an average of 30 hours per week (i.e. 75% time).

Required Qualifications

A graduate degree in any field plus professional and/or graduate study in the field or in a closely associated field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Detailed knowledge of and extensive experience in one or more of the following fields: Project/Program Management, Agile methodology, Scrum framework, Leadership skill training, and related fields.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience in the field or in a closely associated field.
  • Experience in both course material preparation and course delivery that promotes a learner-centered, critical thinking-oriented classroom environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills.
  • Sound professional judgement and attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm and dedication to the development of professional services, training and development in support of lifelong learning for distinct audiences.
  • Industry and/or teaching experience in multiple areas of project management.
  • Experience teaching in face-to-face and online environments.
  • Experience in instructional design and technology in the classroom.
