The Surface Mount Technology (SMT)Cell Leader manages and coordinates the activities of the SMT production cell, which includes the setup, operation, and maintenance of SMT equipment. This role ensures that the cell meets production targets, quality standards, and safety regulations. The SMT Cell Leader is also responsible for leading a team of SMT operators and technicians, troubleshooting issues, and implementing continuous improvement processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the SMT cell(s) and workflows to meet or exceed delivery dates.
  • Oversee production work, cell staffing, and training requirements to meet production needs.
  • Optimize machine setups for efficiency and maximize equipment capabilities (supervisor).
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Ensures on-time delivery to Production through the proper deployment of labor and equipment.
  • Develops and updates standard operating procedures and monitors workers to ensure adherence to these practices.
  • Resolves worker issues or submits unsettled issues to Human Resources for collaboration.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data. Uses production data to evaluate team performance and drive improvement.
  • Facilitates meetings of the Cell members.
  • Manages employee time cards, including vacation and sick requests.
  • Develops training plans and facilitates training of new team members, including carrying out training and coaching directly as needed.
  • Identify and track personnel who will handle hazardous material (lithium batteries, radiometric devices, paint, etc.) to ensure regulatory training is completed.
  • Follows up on individual productivity issues to ensure associates have the knowledge required to perform their duties.
  • Manage and meet goals for performance and metrics.
  • Have flexibility and the willingness to take on other responsibilities outside of the SMT Production Department as needed.


REQUIREMENTS



  • Manufacturing Engineering Degree is preferred, however not a requirement for the position.
  • Experience with Surface Mount Technology equipment or any similar SMT/ THT equipment.
  • Experience with the Selective Solder process.
  • Must possess good mechanical and electrical skills.
  • 3-5 years' experience with leading a team of electronic manufacturing staff and/or SMT staff.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 quality requirements
  • Familiarity with J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.
  • Familiarity with cleanliness requirements.
  • Willing to travel to Europe for training.
