3rd Shift Lead - Material Handling

SUMMARY

Supporting the management team with day-to-day operation of the warehouse. Team Leads ensure efficient operations in achieving business targets and departmental metrics by acting as a bridge between employees and supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide day to day tactical leadership to hourly teammates to ensure KPIs and quality standards are met.
  • Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards while fostering a culture of working safety, teamship, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for training new teammates on the processes used to perform in their jobs.
  • Ensure that teammates have the required resources to be successful at their work.
  • Act as the technical expert in the department while setting the example for safety, attendance, productivity, and attitude with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ensure tasks are completed on time and redirect the work force as needed to help in other areas.
  • Where possible, resolve any issues or problems which occur in the area. Where appropriate, elevate the issue to more senior leadership.
  • Communicate with staff on a regular basis to make them aware of priorities, operational requirements, and shift hand-offs where applicable.
  • Report progress updates, key achievements, and any concerns to warehouse supervisors and/or managers.
  • Act as a liaison with customers, suppliers, and transport companies when required in a timely, professional way.
  • Ensure inventories in area of responsibility are accurate.
  • Do spot quality audits in area of responsibility.
  • Help track the accountability of the department on all transactions.
  • Produce regular reports and statistics as required.
  • Participate and/or lead in continuous improvement events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a similar industry
  • Has team leader skills with the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Is self-aware with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Engages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working with others.
  • Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of not meeting deadlines/ cost of poor quality.
  • Effective communicator at all levels within the organization
  • Knowledge of operating systems and equipment used in each department
  • Basic understanding and experience with MS Office, to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Able to Walk and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Able to bend at waist
  • Able reach above the shoulder level.
