DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to various stakeholders of the PennDOT Welcome Center, including the traveling public, tourism industry partners, internal customers, employees, and vendors. Your main focus will be to provide travelers with essential information to enhance their experience while visiting Pennsylvania, such as directions and recommendations for hotel accommodations to promote travel throughout the state. Enhance PennDOT's tourism outreach initiatives and cultivate stronger relationships with industry partners by organizing special programs, conducting information tours, participating in travel shows, and coordinating related events. Additionally, you will be expected to assist with other travel-related tasks as assigned by your supervisor or division manager to support the overall objectives of the Welcome Center Division. Maintain proactive and well-informed communication practices to streamline Welcome Center Division operations effectively. Collaborate closely with the Tourist Information Supervisor to address any inquiries, issues, or suggestions related to the Welcome Center staff and operational processes. By fostering open communication channels, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of customer service standards and operational efficiency within the division. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Part-time Temporary "on call" employment.
- Shifts vary and working hours are based on operational need.
- Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in work involving public contact; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be willing and able to work in and commute to Mercer County PennDOT Welcome Center: I-80 Eastbound, Mile East of PA/OH Border, West Middlesex, PA.
You must have the ability to be "on call" between 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, seven days a week, (currently hours are 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM). You must have the ability to report to work within 1-hour of being called in. - You must have front facing public contact experience.
- You must have one year of work experience involving public contact.
- You must have experience working with computers.
- You must have experience answering phones, composing emails, compiling reports, tracking office activities and inventory, entering data, and filing
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Five or more years of full-time experience in work involving front facing public
- High school diploma or equivalent
