SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Director - Financial Systems will be responsible for project related activities such as planning, developing, design and implementation for accounting applications and systems. This role will work with closely with the Procurement, Treasury, Grants Management, Financial Planning & Analysis and Accounting teams, Amtrak's Digital Technology (DT) department, consultants and cross-functional project subject matter experts. This role will also be responsible for maintaining governance around financial systems and financial master data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Serve as the Business Project Manager/Business Lead for the S/4HANA enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation (conversion from SAP ECC) and business transformation project. Partner with and support the DT Project Manager assigned to this project.
  • Complete all required pre-work during the ramp-up phase, including the request for proposal process, data cleansing activities, archiving support, and data mapping (current code block mapped to redesigned code block).
  • Lead the delivery of critical business transformation as identified during the assessment phase and support the successful implementation of S/4HANA. Support the decommissioning of legacy financial applications.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting system data governance.
  • Lead a team of 3 individuals who support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process and governance of SAP-related financial master data.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor of Arts/Science in Accounting/Finance
  • Minimum 11 years financial experience, with demonstrated leadership roles.
  • Completion of at least one S/4HANA implementation



MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Extensive knowledge of the SAP S/4HANA ERP application.
  • Extensive knowledge of Accounting and Finance processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and team building skills.
  • Skilled using Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Ability to communicate with those without accounting or financial systems backgrounds.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Prior experience in implementing Financial ERP Systems and other applications.
  • CPA desired
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles



WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • Exposure to working on project teams, with various individuals in operations and other departments.
  • Work will be performed remotely or Hybrid

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.



PAY TRANSPARENCY:

The salary/hourly range is$163,000-$211,140.Pay is based on several factors includingbut not limited to education, work experience, certifications,internal equity,etc.Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider ageo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offeradditional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees,including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual andcompany performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/orlong-term incentive plan compensation.
