Job Purpose

The Smart Factory department in HDMA's Digital Innovation Division is on a mission to develop and implement strategies and standards that leads Honda's manufacturing sites into the next generation automotive products.

As a Technical Expert in the Smart Factory Department, you will be responsible to judge the technical aspects of Digital Manufacturing technology research, development and deployment. Scope of technology includes Factory IoT, Manufacturing Systems and Connected Worker tools which will be diffused across all North American manufacturing plants to improve business value and plant characteristics enhancement.

Key Accountabilities




  • Lead planning and implementation of smart factory IoT roadmap, strategy and initiatives which are aligned with company and division direction.
  • Judge the technical output of smart factory initiatives which is developing and validating new or updated digital methods.
  • Evaluate and approve Smart factory Department led projects to ensure expected results are achievable and aligned with company, business unit and division directives.
  • Collaborate with associates in the Manufacturing Management Center and IT to develop project backlogs and plan the development and deployment schedules of the factory technologies.
  • Support the agile transformation of smart factory value streams withing Digital Innovation Division including collaboration with IT and external partners



Qualifications, Experience and Skills




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 12 years of engineering and manufacturing combined experience
  • Create & adjust detailed complex plans / schedules using Agile methodology.
  • Develop & present complex proposals for evaluation to executives.
  • Comfort with digital technology such as manufacturing execution, IoT and AI / ML
  • High degree of negotiation & compromise skills



Workstyle




  • Hybrid position, located at ADC with expectation of being on-site as the primary work location
  • 60% office, 10% production floor (go to the spot), 30% remote
  • Travel as required to other auto Honda sites, Japan or key Honda suppliers
  • 5-15 hours of OT per week
