This person works closely with Business Development Assistants, Business Development Managers, and other support related areas.

The GP Customer Service Specialist is responsible for the validation and execution of Grocery Products (GP) order processing and scheduling, handling Distress Sale Orders, Will Call Pickups and Order Auditing. Responsible for performing all necessary work and tasks to ensure Supply Chain goals and metrics are met. Works closely with the Team Lead to deliver outstanding results for our Client.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs all tasks for processing orders, verification, and customer service.
  • Oversees a variety of customers, including complex, and will escalate questions to Supervisor as necessary.
  • Groups orders for largest truck loads for cost savings and bracket pricing qualification.
  • Requests appointments for loads as needed.
  • Groups and trips customer pickup loads.
  • Able to address any potential order issues.
  • Gathers and tracks order details and researches any discrepancies.
  • Provide timely and thorough communication with clients and customers.
  • Works within supply chain to mitigate inventory issues.
  • Participate in Hormel/Customer calls as scheduled; providing feedback and insight.
  • Communicate regularly with management advising any critical issues or opportunities.
  • Performs some training and vacation/out of office back-up

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of experience in Customer Service working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, to accurately execute detailed work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to complete multiple duties with accuracy shifting from one to another with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated Proficiency in Microsoft applications with an emphasis on Excel, Outlook, and web-browsers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duty

Order Entry

  • Enters and processes accurate and timely orders by utilizing EDI and order requirements.
  • Ensures accurate entry through knowledge of client's items/policies for proper delivery to the customer.
  • Ensures accurate pricing and promotion information by communicating with Business Development Assistant.

Reconciliation

  • Reconcile orders to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Indicates discrepancy by tagging with promotion/pricing/etc. dispute in system.
  • Provide Ad-hoc reporting as necessary.

Administrative

  • Supports administrative activities by maintaining communication flow and serving as a liaison to Business Development Managers, and other support staff.
  • Ensures accurate and timely communication with clients and customers through on-going correspondence.
  • Provides backup to departmental co-workers.

Client and Customer Interaction

  • Assist in meeting Company and Client /Customer objectives by understanding sales volume, profitability and incremental growth opportunities for each brand.
  • Ensure customer and client satisfaction by proactively seeking input, recommending solutions, and solving problems through independent thinking.

Minimum Qualifications

The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level: (Required): High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Customer Service

- 1-3 years of experience in Customer Service

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Good written communication and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service orientation
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
