The New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University (NYITCOM - Arkansas) Department of Biomedical & Anatomical Sciences invites applicants for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. Applicants will join a dynamic group of anatomy faculty to team-teach cadaver-based gross anatomy and neuroanatomy to first-year medical students. In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty members actively participate in graduate education, both in the classroom and through the mentoring and training of graduate students in the Masters of Biomedical Science (MBS) program and at Arkansas State University.

Faculty in the Biomedical & Anatomical Sciences department have strong backgrounds in fundamental and translational research. A research program that expands on and collaborates with existing strengths of the department, including vertebrate paleontology, evolutionary biology, renal physiology, cardiovascular disease, bioinformatics, and neuroscience is highly desirable. The department of Biomedical & Anatomical Sciences provides a collaborative, intellectual environment that encourages collaboration among faculty, and facilitates interaction through shared access to core research facilities. Faculty are provided opportunities for growth through formal professional development, internal grant opportunities for pilot research, as well as support to attend and present at professional meetings.

NYITCOM-Arkansas is an accredited, additional campus of NYITCOM located in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The campus matriculates approximately 120 students each year. Jonesboro is the largest city in Northeast Arkansas. The city is located approximately one hour from Memphis, TN and has a growing population of over 80,000. Jonesboro is a thriving community that is home to numerous educational, commercial, agricultural, and health care entities. NYITCOM- Arkansas has a joint partnership with Arkansas State University, an R2 institution located in the heart of Jonesboro.

NYITCOM-Arkansas faculty are offered research space and equipment at Arkansas State University. Interested faculty may also request affiliate appointments with Arkansas State University, allowing faculty access to undergraduate and graduate students (Masters and Ph.D.) at Arkansas State University to further expand their research output. Responsibilities

Faculty effort allocation is typically distributed between the domains of teaching, research/scholarly activity, and service. The successful candidate will:

    Teach cadaver-based human anatomy and neuroanatomy to medical students.
  • Conduct bench or scholarly research and guide students in scholarly activities.
  • Apply for competitive grants with external funding agencies.
  • Mentor medical students throughout their medical school training.
  • Mentor graduate students and medical scholars with research projects.
  • Serve on committees to fulfill institutional and departmental needs.


Qualifications

  • PhD with expertise in the anatomical sciences is preferred.
  • Post-doctoral training or teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting radiological images is preferred.
