Continuous Improvement Engineer

This position is based in Colombia, Bogota, Parque Industrial Zol Funza.

As a Continuous Improvement Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and process optimization across inbound and outbound logistics. You will develop and implement Lean Six Sigma strategies, align process improvements with Maersk's business goals, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure productivity and cost efficiency. You will foster a collaborative culture, mentor improvement professionals, and support the site's maturity in decision-making and KPI achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement operational excellence strategies aligned with Maersk's business goals and contractual obligations.
  • Lead Lean Six Sigma training programs and utilize tools (RCA, 5 Whys, VSM, Kaizen) to enhance daily operations.
  • Track key performance indicators, conduct Lean Corner meetings with shopfloor personnel, and deliver simplified digital reports.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment with improvement initiatives, productivity goals, and cost-saving targets.
  • Maintain and refine continuous improvement frameworks, including process maps and best practices.
  • Develop action plans and perform data analysis to guide the site's maturity in decision-making, supporting contractual KPI and service commitments.
  • Apply CEN global standards based on site requirements, including Warehouse & Distribution (WnD), Depot, and Cold Storage.
  • Oversee initiatives that achieve significant savings, productivity gains, and meet client expectations.
  • Understand inbound and outbound logistics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Mentor process improvement professionals, manage projects, and foster team communication in alignment with company strategy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in lean manufacturing, logistics operations, or process improvement within warehouse or logistics settings.
  • Proven expertise in process improvement for inbound and outbound logistics operations.
  • Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma or higher certification.
  • Advanced proficiency in English.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work fully on-site with strong adaptability to fast-paced operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading large-scale improvement projects within the logistics or warehousing sector.
  • Experience working in WMS-based operations with measurable success in savings, KPI improvements, and productivity gains.
  • Background in quality management or improvement initiatives for logistics providers.
  • Advanced communication skills, curiosity, proactivity, and attention to detail.
