Description

Under the direct supervision of the designated clinical staff member, provides direct patient care for diverse patient population. Works with clinic management, administration, faculty physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, and other clinical staff to include LVN's and MA's and ancillary personnel in providing total patient care, maintaining high standards of care, and recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms of life threatening emergencies. Coordinate and prioritize tasks and protocols established by the department and/or Administration.

Sr. LVN Salary range: $34.61 - $45.66 Hourly

Qualifications

Required:

  • CA LVN License with IV and Blood Withdrawal Certification
  • Possession of BLS certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel to other OBGYN clinics as assigned
  • Ability to assist with clinical procedures
  • Ability to perform patient assessments and take appropriate action
  • Ability to write concise and clear progress notes
  • Skill at setting up and maintaining sterile fields
  • Skill at effectively communicating with patients, physicians, staff and the public
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with administrators, doctors, peers and public.
  • Knowledge and experience in administering intramuscular and oral medication and monitoring I.V.
  • Ability to assess inventory levels
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Knowledge of specific treatment protocols to be utilized
  • Ability to exhibit flexibility in adjusting to changing demands and requirements of the position
  • Ability to rotate through outpatient treatment areas as needed
  • Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities
  • Ability to promote effective communication concerning atypical clinic events or patient activities
  • Experience with varied computer hardware and software including word processing, spreadsheets and database programs and the UCLA Hospital Information System

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of OBGYN conditions and their treatments
  • Ability to assist with gynecologic examination
  • Treatment skills including catheterizations and bladder installations
  • Expertise in speaking clearly and distinctly, in both Spanish and English, using appropriate vocabulary and grammar, to obtain and convey information to patients and individuals at various organizational levels, both in person and over the phone
