THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is looking for a Clerical Assistant 3 to assist with the auditing of REAL ID documentation, ensuring it meets Commonwealth standards. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will provide support to central office staff, Driver License Center employees, and various stakeholders with inquiries and issues related to REAL ID documentation and its processing. Your duties will include auditing the documents submitted at Driver License Centers for REAL ID products; ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all submissions; and providing final approval for REAL ID applications.

Additionally, you will be responsible for researching, processing, and communicating relevant information to customers while adhering to established turnaround times. This will involve making necessary record adjustments to rectify errors; correcting typographical mistakes; verifying social security numbers via the Social Security Online Verification platform; and conducting identity checks for REAL ID applicants to ensure compliance with the REAL ID Act and related regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch
  • The position may require mandatory overtime, including Saturday hours.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (commonwealth title); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position requires the selected candidate to undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
