Overview POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) or designee, the Research Associate provides operational support to the laboratory. The Research Associate will perform research experiments as defined by the PI. This is an open-rank posting (there are 4 levels of Research Associate) - candidates will be hired into the level commensurate with their experience. The Bondeson Lab is looking for a motivated and talented Research Associate to join our newly formed team. This position affords the exciting opportunity to contribute to biomedical research projects aimed at uncovering the fundamental processes that allow life to adapt to its environment and their dysregulation in disease, particularly cancer. The Bondeson Lab, opened in Fall 2024, leverages chemical biology (e.g. targeted protein degradation) and functional genomics (e.g. CRISPR/Cas9-based screens) to interrogate these biological systems and translate these findings to benefit patients. Within an environment that prioritizes its peoples' growth as much as their scientific output, this is the perfect opportunity for a candidate with several years of laboratory experience to independently lead research projects and contribute to the training environment of the lab as a scientific leader. The ideal candidate will be given opportunities to develop their own ideas from initial concepts towards publications. Find more information about the Bondeson Lab at bondesonlab.org. Please include a brief letter of interest (cover letter) in your application. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Research Associate I:

Additional Information Description The van Leeuwen lab recently moved from the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) to UMass Chan Medical School, and we are looking for a research associate to strengthen our team at UMass Chan. The candidate will be expected to contribute to our research, which aims to improve our understanding of how mutations can interact to produce unexpected phenotypes. A large part of our research focusses on suppression interactions, in which the deleterious effects of a primary mutation are rescued by another mutation elsewhere in the genome. For human disease genes, suppressors can represent strong targets for therapeutic intervention. Our projects generally include high-throughput genetic screens in either yeast (using robotics) or cultured human cells (using CRISPR-Cas9 gRNA libraries). The candidate will also assist in the training of other lab members and provide general support to the lab. We offer a supportive working environment focused on helping each other, mutual respect, and taking responsibility, and we all share a love for detail and beautiful data. More information about our lab can be found at https://vanleeuwenlab.com Please include a cover letter in your application, briefly describing your research experience and explaining why you are interested in this particular position. |
