What You'll Be Doing....

You'll be the Electrical Engineering subject matter expert (SME) for all of the Verizon Wireless network facilities - cell sites, TAPs, SAPs, and Data Centers. In this role, you'll be the first line of support for market Engineering and Network Assurance/Performance teams for all power related matters. You'll be relied upon as Verizon's Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the AC Electrical system at the Network and Cell site locations nationally. Additionally, you will have ownership of Verizon AC Distribution, DC Power, and UPS Preventative Maintenance Programs as well as Verizon's NETA Electrical Acceptance Testing program associated with new construction.

  • Working within the project team to review and comment on the design and specifications documents issued by the consultants, ensuring compliance with company standards.

  • Supporting the Verizon Implementation (construction) team from Concept to Final Construction Acceptance.

  • Managing Verizon Corporate specifications, template drawings, company standards and directives as applicable to the various AC power and related electrical systems.

  • Approving products when applicable with respect to direct purchasing of Cell/Hub site small generators, ILCs, breakers, and related electrical equipment.

  • Providing support during Electrical Outages (potentially on a 24/7/365 basis) and participate in Post Mortem evaluations.

  • Serving as Verizon's Vendor Manager supporting electrical switchgear, large and small generators, UPS, PDUs, RPPs, Busway, ILCs, and related components.

This position can be located in other valid US Verizon locations.

What we are looking for . . .

An individual who is highly organized and can make decisions that ensure Verizon's electrical systems meet the reliability demands of our wireless network. The ability to organize ideas and thoughts and present complex details in a way that is easy to understand. Ability to collaborate with people at all levels of the organization.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • A valid driver's license.

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer.

  • 15 or more years of experience designing complex electrical systems, including medium and low voltage (i.e. 480Y/277V) electrical distribution systems, emergency generator plants, UPS systems, lighting, grounding, and bonding systems, preferably in a telecommunications/data center environment.

  • Knowledge of and experience with Telco-based DC power and grounding systems and concepts preferred but not mandatory.

  • Experience with both design and construction review, contractor engagement, A/E firm interaction, etc related to compliance with standards, contract documents, specifications, and associated requirements.

  • Experience with calculating load requirements and developing short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies/reports using SKM software.

  • In-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NFPA-70E, NFPA-75, NFPA-76, and energy codes.

  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects across the Verizon Network (country).

  • Ability to organize and communicate complex design information to both technical staff members and laypeople.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.

  • Proficient in software packages including but not limited to AutoCad, SKM, Microsoft and Google Office products.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $105,000.00 and $212,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
