Job Profile Summary:

The Email Marketing Strategist is responsible for sending on-going and ad-hoc marketing email campaigns, as well as generating and disseminating reports to indicate the performance of these emails. This role supports in all projects communicating with students throughout their educational journey. This role involves communicating with stakeholders to understand requirements then executing email and other marketing automation campaigns. Additionally, the Email Marketing Strategist supports testing to improve overall email performance as well as competitive analyses as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Program and report on multiple on-going and ad hoc marketing email campaigns per month.
  • Communicate with stakeholders on requirements and execution: create email, send test emails to solicit feedback, and review each email with a critical eye before the final send.
  • Help build out and maintain Engagement Programs in Marketo.
  • Maintain physical and digital library of all out-going emails from Marketing and other departments.
  • Provide monthly performance report on all email Marketing campaigns including use of multiple software programs/platforms (Marketo, Adobe Analytics, Tableau, etc).
  • Provide campaign reports and strategic direction to requestors/stakeholders.
  • Using campaign reports and research from similar/previous campaigns, optimize on-going campaigns and creative new ones.
  • Work with stakeholders, teammates and supervisors to design and build new campaigns suited to your audience.
  • Act as Audience Owner and Subject Matter Expert, with intimate knowledge and understanding of your audience, the communications they receive, typical metrics associated with those campaigns, and what may resonate with them.
  • Regularly meet with stakeholders to provide expertise in campaign design.
  • Independently build advanced campaigns including Engagement, Triggers, multi-channel, forms, etc.
  • Conduct Competitor analyses (as needed).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Excellent written & oral communication skills including proofreading and a critical eye for design.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Experience picking up new technologies.
  • Advanced experience using Marketo
  • Flexible, Pro-active, Positive, 'Can Do' attitude.
  • Advanced experience using audience segmentation and email testing practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in Email Marketing
  • Work with stakeholders, teammates and supervisors to design and build new campaigns suited to your audience.

Department Specific Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 4+ years of experience inMarketing, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Writing or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Concise, articulate communicator.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Familiarity with HTML and how to apply it in emails
  • Marketo certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $66,300.00 - $99,500.00
