Description Maine Medical Center Summary Directs, evaluates, recommends and implements programs designed to protect the hospital and satellite facilities, personnel, patients and visitors. Oversees leadership of Security Department and serves as the primary internal security advisor to the hospital community and Maine Medical Partners. Directs staff in identifying, developing, implementing and maintaining security processes across the organization to provide customer-oriented services for staff, visitors, and patients. Identifies significant risks and designs and implements strategies and programs to reduce and prevent loss of organizational assets. Accomplishes programs through committed, competent staff, state of the art integrated security technology, diverse training and awareness education and prudent policies and procedures. * * Responsible for support services which are performed by contractors with an overall annual expenditure of approximately one million dollars: Lock/key services at the main Bramhall Campus. Installation and maintenance of security systems implemented across multiple sights. Snow removal operations at the Bramhall Campus. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) 1. Education: Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred. 2. License/Certification: N/A. 3. Experience: Ten (10) years of progressively responsible related professional leadership in a healthcare environment. Experience with institutional security is required. Healthcare preferred. 4. Strong problem solving: critical and analytical thinking, good judgment, prioritizing, industrious and creative resolutions for positive outcomes. Ability to deal with, and deescalate, anxious/stressed people and manage aggression. High volume of activity; handle complex interpersonal situations and crisis management scenarios. Ability to recognize potential impacts of decisions and ensures best positive outcomes to prevent/reduce injury, liability, and/or negative publicity. 5. Requires the ability to assess, prioritize and successfully resolve issues to the satisfaction of the customer, manages at a multi-task, multi-location and intra/inter departmental level. 6. Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to communicate with all levels of the organization routinely with senior and executive levels regarding security issues of all types. 7. Exceptional relationship building skills with internal staff and that of external municipal and governmental agencies and with staff/personnel at all skill and leadership levels. 8. Strong writing skills to provide and maintain documentation to support data. 9. Basic computer skills; typing and use of database software. Excellent presentation and communication skills. 10. Technology: use of access control and database software, communications equipment, first aid equipment. 11. Competent to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws, hospital policies and procedures.
