We Require

  • Experience in skilled care, acute care, primary care physician practice, prehospital or hospital emergency medical care

  • Completion of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program meeting AZDHS requirements

Job Contributions

  • Assists in providing basic emergency medical care during medical emergencies in a detention setting

  • Operates under the current scope of practice of the medical direction protocols for emergency medical care technicians

  • Administers, monitors, and assists patients with the self-administration of medications through their administrative medical directors delegated authority

  • Gathers patient vital signs, obtains specimens, performs ordered treatments, and applies dressings

  • Works closely with a multidisciplinary team to monitor patients

  • Recognizes and documents the signs and symptoms of medical needs warranting additional professional expertise and notifying the appropriate medical staff of changes in patient's condition, reaction to medications and/or treatments, and other significant incidents

  • Performs any other duties within the scope of practice

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work inside a jail environment

  • Will be assigned to various clinical locations in the Phoenix area within a 5-mile radius

  • Ability to respond to emergencies and get on the floor to perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, and lift patients on a gurney

  • Must complete an EMT program meeting AZDHS requirements and pass the national registry of EMT (NREMT) exam and possess a valid Arizona EMCT license upon hire

  • A BLS, CPR, and First Aid certification training is provided during new hire orientation

  • Must complete an MCSO-HR fingerprint/background check and maintain CPR certification
