Scope of Position Works directly with the Medical Directors of the ECMO Program, Perfusion Coordinator, and Nursing Unit Leadership to coordinate the care for patients in need of Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) and provide education for the healthcare team. Assists with coordination of patients transferring to Ohio State for ECLS as first point of contact for initiation of transfer. Provides leadership by overseeing team members and serving as the educator, consultant, and liaison for the ECMO program. Participates in the coordination of patient care activities across the continuum, including post-discharge follow up. In addition, this position identifies best clinical practices through national benchmarking and tracks data related to retrieval program. Position Summary Responsible for the coordination and efficient operation of ECMO Programs patient experience through all phases of care, including planning and assisting with implementation of clinical plans of care and practice management guidelines. Represents the program on various hospital committees and presents at regional or national conferences. Organizes and directs the activities and services provided by the ECMO program. Responsible for implementing program objectives, contributes to the budgeting and resource allocation process to ensure the program aligns and supports the overall strategy of the organization. Minimum Qualifications Baccalaureate degree from an accredited school of registered nursing. Current Ohio license or interim permit. Critical care experience, caring for ECMO, VAD and thoracic transplant patients required (Ideally 2 or more years' experience). Demonstration of leadership, communication and organizational skills. |
