What You'll Do: Promote Occupational Safety. Maintain functional responsibility for occupational health and safety matters, including the development of policies, procedures, standards, and systems to protect employee health and safety in accordance with Vulcan and MSHA policies and procedures. Improve Organizational Effectiveness. Work jointly with operations to enhance the safety and productivity of each employee, continuously improving standards in all health-related matters. Assume project leadership on programs focusing on the attraction and development of talent. Create and implement programs that will change the culture and climate of the organization to maintain a competitive advantage. Develop Strategy. Actively support the business strategy through managing key processes related to staffing strategies, outreach activities, communications, forecasting needs, acquisitions, growth initiatives, organizational planning, and overall best practices in the improvement of a talent pool. Compensation and Benefits. Deliver high-impact solutions that support Vulcan's goal to empower employees to achieve health and financial well-being. Work with managers and supervisors on annual salary planning in order to ensure employees are rewarded for performance and contributions. Investigate and Resolve Complaints. Investigate employee complaints and work with management to achieve an acceptable resolution. Facilitate one-on-one interviews and communicate employee comments and employment issues to members of management when appropriate. Maintain Compliance. Support Plant Managers and frontline employees regarding company policies, values, and HR program administration (benefits, pay, and salary). Ensure all business and operational policies and procedures are in compliance with all state and federal employment laws and regulations. Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Skills You'll Need: Education. Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is preferred. HR certification is preferred. Experience. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible Human Resources or organizational development experience is preferred. Some working knowledge of aggregate business is an advantage. Knowledge of Best Practices. Must display general knowledge of labor and employment practices, including but not limited to EEO, FLSA, and OFCCP. Must have a general understanding of human resources management. Integrity and Decision-Making. Must display the highest commitment to ethical decision-making and integrity. Leadership and Management Skills. Must be able to provide strong leadership, communication, and the ability to develop and maintain interpersonal relationships.
