The Senior Director, Proposal Development, will be responsible for supporting requests across Acuity's business lines for Requests for Information & Proposals (RFX), strategic partnership agreements, and transactional proposals. The employee will coordinate proposal-related functions including RFX distribution, proposal development and production, presentation support and post submittal follow-up for new and existing business. This role will be responsible for evaluating current state (people/process/systems) for efficiencies, driving process improvement and standardization, and training key stakeholders on process changes. This role will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of standard templates for proposals. The employee will have experience in proposal functions, with an ability to manage several projects and competing deadlines. The successful candidate will be someone who has a strong sense of accountability, strong written and verbal communication, and project management skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead a team of Proposal Managers and proposal support functions providing guidance, coaching, and support to enhance their effectiveness and career growth
  • Own client proposal development in collaboration with Capture and Business Development Representatives
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with various Acuity SMEs in the development of the proposal and other requested documents
  • Understand business goals and challenges in order to ensure Proposals function and initiatives align with overall objectives
  • Utilize data and feedback to identify opportunities for process improvement and leads subsequent change management
  • Ensure proposal compliance with requirements specified in the RFP
  • Customize, proofread, edit, and ensure accuracy of the final proposal document
  • Complete all required forms and obtains all necessary signatures
  • Manage the coordination and timeline for completion of the RFP
  • Maintain projects in SharePoint including proposal, attachments, communications, etc.
  • Maintain and update proposal boilerplate, current corporate information, location profiles, resumes, bios, customer references and templates as needed
  • Act as Player/Coach if needed on large strategic proposal efforts

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent, relevant work experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in proposals, contracting or similar field
  • Previous experience with Federal market and customer space (federal/civilian and DoD)
  • Understanding of the business and team processes
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess advanced written and oral skills
  • Demonstrated success in managing people; setting and communicating goals and expectations, measuring accomplishments, holding staff members accountable, delegating responsibility, keeping staff members informed, coaching, mentoring, reinforcing positive behavior and managing conflict
  • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with senior managers and employees
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to coach, lead, motivate and influence others to support corporate goals and objectives to produce a winning proposal within budget and schedule constraint
  • Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills
  • Ability to manage employees through influence even though they may not be a direct report
  • Advanced working knowledge with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce software experience preferred

Shipley (or ToTS) or APMP certified
