JOB TITLE: Public Events Manager

DIVISION: Events

REPORTS TO: VP of Marketing

LOCATION: Solitude Mountain Resort

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/ Flex Year-Round/ Salary

POSITION:

The Public Events Manager is responsible for leading a team to successfully activate public events and programs, developing an annual event calendar and budget, and coordinating efforts across departments as necessary.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Event Planning: Conceptualizing, planning, and executing a diverse range of public events such as ski races, winter festivals, concerts, holiday celebrations, and themed parties.

Budget Management: Developing and adhering to event budgets, negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers, and seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

Marketing and Promotion: Collaborating with the marketing team to promote events through various channels including social media, email campaigns, press releases, and advertising to maximize attendance and engagement.

Logistics Coordination: Handling logistics such as venue selection, equipment rentals, transportation, accommodations, permits, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Coordinate closely with sales, F&B, recreational services, and ops teams to ensure proper resource alignment and successful event activation. Ensure event day staffing.

Vendor and Sponsor Relations: Identifying and securing partnerships with vendors, sponsors, and local businesses to enhance event offerings and generate additional revenue through sponsorships and partnerships.

Staff Management: Recruiting, training, and supervising event staff, volunteers, and temporary workers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.

Guest Experience: Focusing on guest satisfaction by anticipating needs, resolving issues promptly, and implementing feedback mechanisms to continually improve events.

Risk Management: Developing contingency plans, assessing potential risks, and implementing safety measures to mitigate any unforeseen circumstances during events.

Post-Event Evaluation: Conducting post-event evaluations to analyze the success of each event, identify areas for improvement, and gather insights for future planning.

Community Engagement: Engaging with the local community to foster positive relationships, support local initiatives, and ensure events align with the resort's values and community expectations.

Management Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the operations of both front and back of house based on seasonal needs
  • Trains employees in proper safety and other duties as well as documentation to support those trainings
  • Manages team member performance and expectations
  • Schedules and assigns work
  • Coaches and mentors team member on training and development items
  • Actively participates in the hiring process and manages labor and schedules
  • Approves timecards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align efforts and maximize efficiency
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior


EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Applicable Experience


SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong Intermediate or advanced ski or snowboard ability
  • 2+ years' experience in a public events role, preferably within the resort and/or hospitality industry
  • Leadership skills

  • Problem-solving skills
  • The ability to delegate effectively
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
  • Strong computer and technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Excel
