Position Title: Production Control Data Manager

Location of Position: United States -- Wisconsin -- Sturgeon Bay

Business Group: Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding

Position Type: Full-Time; Permanent; Exempt

Reports To: Manager of Planning & Production Control

Position Summary: This position is responsible for development and delivery of Marine construction, conversion and repair project schedules, resource plans and performance information to all levels of our management and support teams at our vast, 63-acre facility. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront. This manufacturing process consists of heavy steel machining and automated fit/weld construction all depending on facility weight and size constraints and throughput. The successful candidate will work with Project Management, Production Planning and Production Supervisors to input and post accurate reporting and status to all levels of management.

Detailed Description:



  • Develop, update, maintain and analyze project schedules.
  • Manage schedule logic and details to ensure reporting accuracy through resource plans as required.
  • Participate in the configuration, data collection and migration, analyzing and reporting of performance.
  • Oversee the schedule health metrics to ensure schedule is in compliance company requirements.
  • Resource planning, reservations and tracking of actual usage required to adhere to developed schedules.
  • Assist in the overall advancement of the department and company.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of engineering, procurement and production integration.
  • Develop and maintain work center estimating and tracking through the production life cycle.
  • Develop and maintain medium and long-range production resource plans.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with project members.
  • Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.
  • Maintain a commitment to and promote the Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety Policies.
  • Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.



Supervisory Responsibilities: May directly or indirectly supervises 1 to 4 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding's policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Willingness to be a mentor, and demonstrate leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Proven history of successfully managing projects with critical timelines and completion dates as well as manpower and material resources.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of all common office applications especially spreadsheet analysis and graphing.
  • Substantial experience in a complex multi-product, build-to-order production environment creating project and master schedules and resource plans.
  • Candidate must possess a thorough understanding of planning/scheduling principles, practices, and techniques to ensure the effective use of Project Management tools.



Desired Qualifications:



  • Substantial working knowledge of ERP systems (EPICOR) and scheduling software (Primavera & MS-Project).
  • Substantial working knowledge of performance metrics, calculations and formulas.
  • Detailed and in-depth knowledge of earned value analysis and management methods (EVM & EAC).
  • Working knowledge of reading and interpreting production drawings and product models.
  • Previous experience in a related manufacturing or shipbuilding industry.
