The Pet Food Science Internship will play a vital role in supporting the success of our Pet Nutrition Business. This hands-on experience offers a unique opportunity to gain practical knowledge in various focus areas including: FSQR (food safety, quality and regulatory), R&D (research & development) and Lab Services. You'll work alongside our talented team to ensure that our products meet the highest standards for safety and quality.

You'll make a difference through...

• Assisting with product testing and analysis in the lab, including shelf-life testing, oxidation studies, and microbiological assessments.

• Supporting R&D projects by evaluating ingredient functionality and improving product formulations.

• Conducting literature searches to gather insights on emerging trends, ingredient functionality, and processing innovations.

• Analyzing scientific publications, industry reports, and regulatory guidelines to support research projects.

• Participating in FSQR activities such as process audits, data analysis, and root cause investigations.

• Analyzing raw material quality and help develop testing protocols.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges and explore new product opportunities.

• Presenting findings and recommendations to the business at the end of the internship.

Working conditions...

• Ideally based in St. Joseph, MO manufacturing facility, but hybrid opportunity is a potential.

• Potential travel up to 15%.

Qualifications...

• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Food Science, Grain Science, Animal Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.

Compensation and Benefits:

• In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position is $20.38 - $27.18/hr. Note that wages may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
