DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Highway Archaeological Survey Team Intern, you will have the opportunity to conduct Phase I archaeological surveys for projects across the state. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's (PennDOT) Cultural Resource Management Program offers internships in cultural resource management and historic preservation as part of PennDOT's Highway Archaeological Survey Team (PHAST) at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025 Work hours will vary based on position. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Students who are interested in a PennDOT internship must meet all of the following requirements: Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester. In good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher) Must be at least 18 years of age Special Requirement: Certain positions require a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required): Majors in Anthropology, Archaeology, Historic Preservation, Preservation Planning, History, Architectural History, Public History, or American Studies.
