The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights invites applications for the full-time position of Senior Philanthropy Officer to be based remotely with easy access to any of the Young Center's offices with preference to those in Chicago or New York. The Development department seeks to hire a strategic, passionate, performance-driven Senior Philanthropy Officer who has a strong interest in the organization's mission and the ability to take initiative and to work with a collaborative, engaged, and growing fundraising team. Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, this position will be responsible for generating and executing strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects and existing donors with the capacity to give at the 5- to 6- figure level. This position will also play a leading role in executing strategies for individual gifts. This person will be exceptionally well organized, detail oriented and will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion. The Senior Philanthropy Officer must be able to work under deadlines and handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. This Position has an earliest start date of March 1st, 2025. ABOUT THE YOUNG CENTER The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights is a national organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights and best interests-safety and well-being-of immigrant children in the United States. The Young Center's Child Advocate Program (CAP) serves as the federally-appointed bests interests representative for unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in federal custody. Through CAP's state initiative, we also serve and are appointed by the Superior Courts of New Jersey as independent Child Advocates to children released from federal custody into the New Jersey community. Child Advocates meet with children and learn their stories in order to identify and advocate for their best interests through an interdisciplinary, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive lens. The Young Center's Policy Program fights for wholesale reform of the immigration system while pursuing immediate changes in policy and practice that center children's rights and best interests in all decisions. The Technical Assistance Program, the Young Center's newest program, offers intersectional expertise and critical resources to advocates and service providers working with immigrant children involved in child welfare and other state court systems. The Young Center has offices in Houston, San Antonio, and Harlingen, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; New York, New York; Washington, D.C.; Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles, California; and Grand Rapids, Michigan. We also serve children through our programs in New Jersey. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manage a portfolio of 100+ donors and prospects, including the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual gifts at the 5-and-6 figure level. Define strategies to achieve the Young Center's overarching revenue goals through major gifts. Design and manage programs and campaigns that produce individual gifts of $10,000 to $1,000,000. Organize donor and prospect meetings. Enlist and support board members, donors, and volunteer fundraising leadership to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors. Develop Collateral to prepare board members and fundraising leadership to make successful major gifts asks Assist with the conception, logistics, and planning of point of entry parties related to major giving. Collaborate with other staff to create materials, including solicitations letters, proposals and donor recognition pieces, that increase our fundraising potential and efficacy. Partner to maintain an organized system of donor stewardship by updating donor records, contact reports, and tasks, as appropriate (note: this role is not responsible for gift entry) Communicate regularly with donors and prospects to ensure high levels of engagement Work Collaboratively and closely with Young Center staff in multiple departments to coordinate donor site visits, and to compile donor requested information and data. Engage donors and prospects at events and other venues as part of the cultivation process. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree Required Minium of five years in in prospect management and direct individual face-to-face solicitations for social justice, education, or similar nonprofit organizations required A proven track record in closing 5-7 figure gifts Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills, grounded in compelling storytelling Knowledge of basic moves management principles and best-practices in prospect identification, donor cultivation and stewardship. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook required Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and take ownership of the job Highly organized, detail oriented, ability to maintain a high level of follow through, confidentiality, and an ethical approach to fundraising Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as called for by events PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience-lived, volunteer, or professional-with immigration matters Highly sociable, emotionally intelligent and motivated to meet new people, build relationships and spark engaging cause-focused conversations. Experience working with donor database software preferred, preferably Every Action Planned giving experience a plus PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical demands include regular attendance, keyboarding, sitting for long periods (at least 5 hours a day), driving. Ability to use computer, telephone, and copy machine. Ability to travel by plane, car and other conveyances within U.S. Occasional lifting for event setup/preparation.
