Description

Wenger Corporation is seeking a Shipping Coordination Supervisor to join our team! As a Shipping Coordination Supervisor, you will contribute to Wenger Corporation's strategy to provide an exceptional customer experience by overseeing and coordinating all activities within the shipping department to ensure the efficient and accurate dispatch of goods to customers and internal destinations. This role involves managing a team of shipping associates, ensuring compliance with delivery standards, optimizing shipping processes, and maintaining inventory accuracy. The Shipping Supervisor plays a critical role in meeting customer delivery expectations and contributing to the smooth operation of the logistics function.

At a minimum, you'll need:



  • Bachelor's degree or four (4) years' relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a Transportation Management System (TMS)



It'd be great if you also have:



  • Knowledge of HTS categorization, Schedule B compliance and Free Trade requirements
  • Three (3) years' experience in import/export trade compliance, customs brokerage, or related international logistics field
  • Three (3) years' experience and knowledge of the transportation industry



What you will do on a typical day:



  1. Manage relationships of Freight Forwarders
  2. Ensure team is well-versed and has support to make decisions on the following:

    • Offering quotes to sales for international and domestic orders based on product detail and shipping requirements
    • Preparing export shipment documents for Air / Ocean shipments
    • Review of product and assign classification HTS code based on Custom regulations and product information


  3. Conducts periodic assessments of company and broker performance and import/export activities and direct other business and program activities that impact import/export compliance; resolve errors found on entry summaries with brokers
  4. Responsible for coordinating shipping and logistics duties to sustain the highest level of cost control and customer service for internal Wenger partners as well as customers

    • Coordinates with shipping dock personnel to maintain a consistent workflow and minimize overtime
    • Assists shipping dock personnel in resolving carrier related issues
    • Manage contract load schedule to optimize delivery cost and service times
    • Manages weekly freight to optimize cost and profitability performance
    • Support Purchasing to ensure timely inbound deliveries to prevent scheduling disruptions
    • Reviews freight bills for accuracy and resolves discrepancies
    • Maintain records and reports related to area of responsibility


  5. Reviews performance metric datapoints and provides insight to Manager on team performance for biannual and annual performance review discussions
  6. Defines and implements continual process improvements to maximize performance, maintain highest customer service level possible, and enhance our competitive edge
  7. Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to team members, helping them develop their skills and reach their full potential.
  8. Create and implement personalized development plans for each employee, identifying areas for growth and providing the necessary resources and support.
  9. Interact with the international sales and project management teams to coordinate shipments and ensure customer service expectations are met
  10. Maintain the classification database and/or product matrix of goods with the ECCN, country of origin, and Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes of the US
  11. Assist with implementing, updating and maintaining import/export control policies and procedures
  12. Partner with purchasing team on import shipment requirements and program
