Overview

As an Engineer working for Hepburn and Sons LLC, you will provide engineering support services to the Unmanned Program Office. You will be expected to provide system and UxV integration and test and evaluation support and technical support in engineering analysis for UxVs .

This is a contingent position based on award/funding from the customer.

Responsibilities

    Provide System Engineering/integration Analysis for platform requirements and associated Weapon Systems and Payloads to include new concept development for the program incorporating system trade-offs and identifying opportunities for future innovative capabilities
  • Support development and updates of overarching Test and Evaluation (T&E) strategy and Test Evaluation Management Plan (TEMP)
  • Adjudicate comments from reviewers on strategy and plan
  • Provide evaluations, analysis, and recommended solutions for Technology Readiness Level (TRL), security evaluations, Certification Test and Evaluation (CT&E), Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E), and Enterprise Applications
  • Provide support for development and evaluation of shipyard proposals by participating in RFP requirements- meetings, pre-award surveys, negotiations support, and post award conferences
  • Support in the development of Training Materials, Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) documentation and Government Furnished Information (GFI) and support Planning Yard Managers with GFI/GFE management
  • Conduct a review and analysis of UxV designs, addressing technical issues that arise during design and construction, and in the development of the future UxV requirements and acquisition documents
  • Provide engineering support as requested by the-customer to support technical and project decisions and maintain technical configuration control
  • Perform engineering analyses of customer mission and performance requirements to define UxV attributes in engineering terms
  • Perform engineering studies leading to the allocation of UxV attributes to UxV systems in terms of design direction, performance, configuration, space and weight, and arrangement
  • Perform design and engineering studies to identify the degree of UxV systems integration required to meet the mission requirements
  • Provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) of designs in the form of technical products such as drawings, conceptual and product engineering designs, calculations, schematics, reports, etc
  • Provide technical assistance with UxV design, and integration, related to subject areas including machinery, hull form, hull strength, propulsion, electrical systems, auxiliary systems, hydrodynamics, sea keeping and survivability, stability, structures, arrangements, habitability, outfitting, lifesaving and mooring systems, cargo handling systems, unmanned systems, aviation, C4I, combat systems, autonomy, computer science, electronics and other technical areas as necessary
  • Perform review and analysis as requested of the developing design to ensure that the UxV is functionally balanced and integrated in terms of distribution and location of functions, seaworthiness, mission suitability (effectiveness, survivability), and performance
  • Identify UxV system characteristics and capabilities of alternative system configurations


Qualifications

  • Masters degree in engineering discipline
  • 10 or more years of experience in Navy shipbuilding and defense systems
  • Top Secret DoD clearance
  • Travel 10 % requirement

Preferred:

  • 15 years of experience in Navy shipbuilding and defense systems
  • Experience with DoD/DoN procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 Process)
