Great Hill is seeking a Wireless Communications Engineer in Suffolk, Virginia, to lead the design and evaluation of advanced communication systems for assured data transport in military operations. This role involves expertise in IP networks, RF systems, 4G/5G technologies, and AI-enabled orchestration of software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN). Candidates will design scalable, self-healing wireless networks and address complex challenges in communication system architecture. A Secret clearance and in-depth knowledge of wireless communications are required.

This position offers the opportunity to work with classified data, drive innovation in wireless communication technologies, and contribute to critical national security projects. Applicants must demonstrate technical expertise and a passion for solving complex communication challenges to enhance military capabilities across strategic domains.

Required Skills:



  • Expert knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures--both public and private (e.g., APCO P25, DMR, Tetra, LTE, 802.11, 4G/5G) to include knowledge of RF coverage predictions, including coverage analysis, frequency reuse, traffic/capacity modeling.
  • Experience in design of IP networks, RF antenna systems, two-way radio systems, microwave systems, wireless data systems, data networking, as well as system configuration.
  • Understanding of Broadband services bonded into self-healing multipath conduits using any spectrum, any global provider, and any digital infrastructure including GEO-LEO satellite, terrestrial, and fiber optic, as a scalable, carrier-agnostic transport.
  • Knowledge of how local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), 4G/5G LTE, closed tactical mesh services, and mobile ad hoc radio networks (MANET) are combined into scalable, self-healing meshes.
  • Understanding the application of meshed networks using combined, software defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solutions that may utilize artificial intelligence (AI) services to orchestrate data across multiple paths.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required


Desired Skills:



  • Experience with Joint Test & Evaluation (JT&E) or operational testing.


Security Clearance:



  • Active Secret clearance required
