Overview

The Safety Coordinator leads and oversees the company safety program while assisting in the growth and development of the of the organization's safety culture through training, implementation of safety policies, and ensuring a safe work environment. The Safety Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Safety and Training.

Responsibilities

* Provide safety leadership and direction to crews to ensure safe, yet efficient and quality operations.
* Ensure compliance of OSHA, federal, state, local and corporate policies and procedures.
* Conduct Safety meetings and site specific training for electrical construction crews throughout Chain Electric to include training workers in safe construction methods and safe operation of equipment through safety procedures, best practices, and/or company policies.
* Monitor and ensure adherence of safety rules and regulations on customer projects.
* Conduct new hire safety orientation.
* Conduct new hire assessments to ensure qualification compliance.
* Assist with outages and other high priority jobs.
* Advise management, operations, and project management of working conditions and recommend improvements in areas of employee health and safety.
* Assist in updating training modules to include current regulations and best practices.
* Investigate accidents to identify causes and determine preventive measures in the future.
* Conduct Emergency Response Drills
* Assist corporate safety personnel in collecting data, maintaining records and following up on safety related issues.
* Assist other safety personnel with company initiatives and overall implementation of Safety Department Goals, as well as Corporate Safety initiatives.
* Adhere to all Company EEO, affirmative action, safety, and quality assurance programs.



Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Education : Minimum - High School Graduate or Equivalent

Experience:
* A college or associate's degree or equivalent experience with at least 5 years' experience in safety and health matters
* Must have the ability to pass the required OSHA training to become a trainer.
* Possess either the OSHA 500 & 510 certification and/or the OSHA 10 & 30 hour certification.
* Must have the physical ability to conduct inspections and audits and conduct training on-site in the field.
* Must have effective communication and presentation skills to be able to work closely with employees of all levels.
* Must be able to communicate effectively with inspectors, regulators and management.
* Must be able to travel for extended periods of time and at a moment's notice.


Computer Skills

    Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook preferred.
  • Applicants who do not have computer experience, must commit to acquiring proficient computer skills necessary to fulfill job duties and responsibilities

Certificates & Licenses

  • Valid driver's license required.
