Minimum Qualifications
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred and minimum of one year's supervisory experience as a staff member or student employee, volunteer, intern or similar in a college or university setting.
Position Summary
The Coordinator for Event Logistics is responsible for managing the setup and breakdown of all events hosted within the Tate Student Center facilities. This role involves significant evening and weekend hours and includes overseeing a team of student staff who execute event setups and operational tasks. The Coordinator provides supervision, mentorship, and support to student employees to ensure smooth event operations and professional development opportunities. Reporting to the Senior Coordinator for Event Services, this position is an integral part of the Campus Reservations, Events, and Technical Services ( CRETS) team.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Excellent Customer Service skills

  • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, internet research, and simple database and calendar management
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to communicate with various internal and external constituencies in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of Audio-visual equipment set-up and operation is a plus
  • Knowledge of managing facilities
  • Lifts equipment up to 25lbs and sit for long periods and mentor

Supervise Event Services Student Staff

  • Supervise the student crew(s) that manages room set-up and break down and maintain room conditions.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating of student staff
  • Serve as a mentor to student staff employees through leadership and training

Facilities Preparation

  • Supervise and prepare facilities for meetings and events taking place in Tate Center facilities and other locations as assigned, and not limited to special night and weekend facility set-ups.
  • Perform weekly inspections of all Tate Student Center event spaces
  • Manage event equipment for all meeting spaces and event furniture supplies in Tate Center facilities
  • Work with Senior Coordinator to order new event supplies as they arise

Event Inspection

  • Work directly with student staff employees on all meeting, event, and other event spaces in and around the Tate Student Center facilities
  • Inspect set-ups for events in Tate Center facilities for accuracy and cleanliness
  • Ensure all meeting, event spaces, and pre-function areas are set on a daily basis

  • Develop, maintain, and assess event equipment inventory for use in Tate Center facilities as well as weekly ordering of event supplies
  • Serve as direct point of contact with designated linen company or other event vendor(s)
  • Responsible for paying invoices from event supply orders or other event vendor(s)

  • Assist Senior Coordinator or Event Coordinator with event reservations and event coordination in their absence
  • Attend weekly event scheduling meetings
