As the Staff Accountant - Loans, you'll be responsible for assisting with the financial accounting and for Craft 3's loans receivable and payable. This position is responsible for supporting the Assistant Controller's goals and Craft3's mission and is responsible for supporting and helping to maintain policies, procedures and a system of internal controls to safeguard the assets of Craft3. The Staff Accountant - Loans is responsible for supporting the Assistant Controller, Controller and CFO in collaborating with Craft3's independent accountants to help ensure the successful audit of its financial statements and completion of its tax and information returns.

This position collaborates with the Assistant Controller in an integral part of a distributed accounting team that is working independently from remote locations. Frequent communications in all forms are of vital importance in a successful Accounting and Finance team. The goals of the Staff Accountant - Loans support the goals of the Assistant Controller, Controller and the CFO and the goals and mission of Craft3.

Ability to successfully work with colleagues located in local and satellite offices. Ability to develop new procedures to meet identified needs and/or to adjust to changes in procedures as necessary. Effective listening and communication skills with the ability to communicate issues over the phone, in person, by video chat and email to a variety of audiences. Comfort and proficiency with financial and loan management database platforms. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, shared files system and Contact Relationship Management systems. Accounting leadership:

Supporting policies, procedures and internal controls and planned changes. Processing daily ACH and check batches for loan payments and disbursements. Processing participation loan remittances Tracking and requesting payment for notes payable payments. Accounting for non-accrual and debt recovery loans. Completing month-end loan accounting journal entries. Collaborating with lending teams to record transactions in the lending software. Maintaining timely balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned by the Assistant Controller - Loans. Supporting the goal for monthly and quarterly, financial statements being published within 10 business days of month-end. Supporting the effort for the audited consolidated financial statements to be issued within 120 calendar days from year-end and without material adjustments or material weaknesses in internal controls. Supporting with tax accountants needs for the timely filing of federal, state and local tax and information returns. Supporting the information needs for the operating and capital budgets to be finalized before the start of the new fiscal year. Maintaining accounting and financial internal controls to avoid control deficiencies and breaches leading to financial losses to Craft3 or impact to borrowers, lenders and others.

  • Back up to Staff Accountants. Participating with all members of the Craft3 team. Contributing to the body of knowledge, sharing best practices and suggesting process improvement ideas.


Your experience

Commitment to the mission of Craft3. Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance experience. Experience with a CDFI or similar finance organization preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - None; however, accounting degree and experience with accounting with for profit and not-for-profit entities preferred.

Supervision

This position will not supervise any direct reports

Physical Demands

Frequently requires use of manual dexterity and repetitive motions, primarily with the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Travel

A level of travel is to be expected with job responsibilities covering a geographic area that includes the States of Oregon and Washington, branch office visits and company events.

What we offer

The salary range for this position is $53,000 - $96,000 and is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual pay will depend on experience. Grade for this position is 8-10. This position is FLSA status Exempt. We offer hybrid work flexibility, and employees have access to physical offices in Seattle and Spokane, Washington, and Portland and Astoria, Oregon. Employees may take advantage of flex/alternative work schedules.
