Design Division Quality Control Specialist

Basic Function

Assist the Director of Quality in all aspects of quality assurance for Bernhardt Design products, including customer service, production quality, outsourced quality, and testing. Maintain and organize weekly quality reports for internal and external issues for Plants 3, 4 and 7. Work to identify root causes and help with solutions to maintain acceptable quality standards. Helps to carry out divisional quality control objectives. Performs other specific duties as assigned. Helps to provide a safe and accident-free work environment.

Organizational Relationships

Directly reports to the Director of Quality. Maintains a working relationship with Quality Customer Service representatives, Credenza/Tables Quality Manager, Seating Quality Manager, Purchased Parts Quality Manager, BIFMA Lab Manager, Manufacturing, Design and Textiles.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Records and charts all CSR's and associated costs.

Monitors and records internal rejects throughout the production process, including but not limited to 1st pass percentages, textile turn backs, sewing and upholstery rejects, and associated costs.

Help evaluate returned merchandise for problem analysis.

Works with Quality Director and Managers in identifying root causes of recurring quality-related issues. Documents all approved changes.

Maintains open lines of communication with plant employees and promotes a proactive, preventative, pro-customer attitude toward excellence in superior product quality.

Expedite in-queue products to the BIFMA testing laboratory.

Expedite quality return/repair items.

Participates in plant quality audits.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality.

Attends Textile meetings for new fabric approvals.

Preferred Experience & Skill Set:

Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as: email, word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Technical degree preferred.

Must be able to read and interpret engineering detailed drawings.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with various teams involved in quality, design & manufacturing.

Ability to multi-task and possess excellent communication and time management skills.

Must be well organized.

Roll will require lifting and ability to move products.
