About this position:

Baker Publishing Group is seeking a candidate to fill a Design Assistant position. The individual in this position will be responsible for making reprint corrections in print books using InDesign, and creating charts, graphs, or figures for frontlist book projects using Illustrator and InDesign. Related duties include making corrections on frontlist books as needed, archiving frontlist book files, checking illustration photo quality, preparing Microsoft Word files for typesetting, and participating in design-check critiques.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent experience preferred
• Working knowledge of at least one of the following programs is required: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator
• Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, follow schedules, and meet deadlines.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Photoshop, and the MacOS preferred.
• Team player, willing to give and receive feedback
• Self-starter who can set and meet personal goals
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of paragraph, character, and object styles a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a full-time position, benefits provided include health, dental, group life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid time off, 401(k) after three months, and others.
