Position: Grain Operations Team Lead

Reports to: Location Manager

Classification: Fulltime, Hourly

Location: Fostoria

Summary/Objective:

  • Conduct daily grain handling operations including good housekeeping/safety practices while providing excellent customer service to the cooperative's patrons
  • Assist Grain Branch Manager with daily outside operations, the supervision of facility associates, managing grain quality and inventory reporting.

Grain Associate Requirements:

  • Maintain an attitude that promotes teamwork and a favorable image of the cooperative
  • Self-motivated with ability to work well with others and independently
  • Provide friendly customer service
  • Have exceptional communication skills
  • Possess flexibility and adaptability in meeting constraints and demands
  • Ability to read and follow detailed directions and learn new skills as required
  • Comfortable working in, around, and on top of grain bins and railcars
  • Must have a full range of body motion including bending, squatting and twisting
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and reach work above shoulders
  • Ability to operate forklift/skid steer safely and proficiently (training provided)
  • Working knowledge of the agriculture industry or grain facility operations
  • Previous management experience preferred

Team Lead Requirements:

  • Must work with the team to accomplish daily tasks and promote the completion of duties in a timely manner
  • Assist with planning day-to-day employee tasks and grain movement priorities
  • In the absence of Manager, plan, schedule and ensure the day's schedule is carried out
  • Inform Branch Manager of issues with jobs being accomplished and employee issues observed
  • With consultation of Branch Manager, responsible for disciplinary action, if needed, including verbal warnings and write ups
  • Assist Branch Manager with employee items such as the hiring process, orientation training, timecards, scheduling and evaluations
  • Help personnel learn new skills in the facility by working with them hands on
  • Assist with safety programs and help conduct safety meetings as needed
  • Ensure safety permits are completed, when required, and filed appropriately
  • Must be willing to attend development events or complete webinars to continue education
  • Assist with end of month inventory reporting as needed
  • Obtain and maintain a Grain Grader's License
  • Assist Branch Manager with other duties as needed
  • Possesses good computer skills

Preferred Experience:

  • High school graduate+
  • 3 years management experience
  • Agricultural business background/OABA Student Credential
  • Ability to help at other Legacy locations as needed on a short-term basis (ie: Agronomy)

  • Standard work week is Monday through Friday; needs of the business may dictate exceptions to this standard, including overtime and weekends as required
