Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About the Position

The Investigative Aide primarily performs in-depth data searches and research that helps to Locate and or Serve legal documents to case victims and witnesses identified by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office (MCAO). This is done by gathering, compiling, and analyzing information obtained from restricted Law Enforcement only databases as well as open-source investigations.

The Investigative Aide performs many other tasks that assist Detectives with investigations as well as Deputy County Attorneys with their prosecutions. The Investigative Aide position is specialized to support the functions of DCAs and sworn Detectives, as well as collaborate with outside agencies in Arizona and Nationwide.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office Investigation Division is comprised of sworn and civilian positions that support the prosecutorial efforts of the Maricopa County Attorneys. The Investigations Division is divided into 6 Bureaus, each of which is commanded by a sworn Lieutenant who reports to the Commander and Chief of Investigations. Each of the Bureaus performs specific Law Enforcement-related support functions for the Office.

We Require

  • Three years of specialized clerical, administrative, or sworn experience in a Law Enforcement environment

  • Highschool Diploma or GED

  • Post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

  • Must possess (or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire) a valid Arizona Driver's License

  • Must be able to obtain a Criminal Justice Information System Network Terminal Operator Certification (TOC) Level B within (30) days of hire

  • Conduct State and National Criminal History database searches, reports, backgrounds, and verifications within the prescribed time frames as well as maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information and files

  • Organize and analyze information and prepare comprehensive research packets of acquired documentation

  • Obtain certified and uncertified documentation from Local, State, and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies as well as other entities like MVD, Vital Records, or OME in the event of a death confirmation investigation

  • Complete Karpel/PbK reminders as appropriate and within assigned deadlines.

  • Identify and report issues and foreseeable problems related to locating case witnesses or victims including Officer Safety concerns and other verbalized, written, or intuitive concerns

  • Complete Informant Worksheets

  • Participate in special projects or case investigations as needed

  • Release of disposition reports to Law Enforcement Agencies

  • Communicate verbally and/or in writing with others to obtain contact information for case victims and witnesses

Working Conditions

  • Requires alternating long periods of sitting while completing computer activities and paperwork as well as well as standing and moving about during the course of performing duties.

  • Frequent interruptions need for multitasking, time pressure, and high volumes of work may be a common occurrence

  • Must have the ability to travel to and from various County locations utilizing personal or County vehicles

  • Must have the ability to move up to 20 pounds floor to waist and push up to 20 pounds a distance of up to 100 feet
