Position Summary The Translational Informatics Division has a job opening for a graduate student or advanced undergraduate student with training and skills suitable to contribute to research in biomedical data science. Ideal candidates should have knowledge and skills in (1) programming in Python and other languages, (2) machine learning, (3) data science, and (4) SQL and No-SQL databases. Also, desirable and applicable are training, knowledge and interest in one or more of: molecular biology, genomics, chemistry, cheminformatics, statistics, medicine, drug discovery, and biomedical informatics. Job responsibilities and tasks will be adjusted to the specific strengths and interests of the research assistant. Motivation, honesty, curiosity, and communication skills are essential. The work will involve collaborative data science toward the research goals of the NIH funded projects and provide excellent training opportunities for motivated persons.
Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate or advanced undergraduate student in a subject area aligned with biomedical data science research
  • Computational knowledge and skills required for data science, including but not limited to programming and databases
  • Motivated to learn and contribute to biomedical data science research
