Purpose of Position
This position will have primary responsibility for developing and managing a robust portfolio of leadership gift prospects for the university's Division of Athletics, and for soliciting and closing gifts between $5K-$24.99K in support of the Division's priorities.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Solicit gifts of between $5,000-$24,999 in support of the Division of Athletics' priorities and objectives to raise $100,000 in support per year to start. Prepare for and conduct meetings to assess and identify new prospects and to cultivate, solicit, close gifts from and steward existing prospects and donors. Leverage the division's competition schedules and coach/staff partners to provide appropriate engagement opportunities for donors and prospects. Document and maintain quality records in the donor database (Raiser's Edge NXT) adhering to all established reporting deadlines. Utilize university systems to record prospect and donor interactions, track proposals, and maintain prospect and donor contact information.


  • Work closely with colleagues in Donor Relations to execute stewardship plans for assigned donors at the division leadership level, who are in a pledge payment cycle, or with established funds or endowments. Ensure these donors maintain affinity for the program and grow in philanthropic commitment by facilitating relationships with the Athletic Director, coaches and key division staff, and receive appropriate impact reporting on the use of their gifts.
  • Support the Associate Athletic Director, Development in the execution of special projects as assigned, including donor and prospect-related events, volunteer management, special campaigns including student-athlete alumni philanthropy initiatives, and donor stewardship including fulfillment of Go Norse Fund Membership Benefits.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Athletics Ticketing, prospect development, annual giving, and fellow major gift officers to develop and maintain a portfolio of prospects with the capacity and inclination to give at the leadership level.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 1 year of related experience.

The successful candidate for this role will be intellectually curious, possess a positive growth mindset and a keen understanding of and passion for the value of higher education and collegiate athletics, and be able to translate the priorities of the Athletic Director and coaches into a compelling philanthropic vision.

Some previous nonprofit experience and an understanding of the basic principles of fundraising is required.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications, including Teams, is required and knowledge of Raiser's Edge is a plus.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with appropriate direction are also required.
