Responsibilities

This exempt position is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of Equipment Operator training and selection, as well as providing coaching to current Field Managers on Safety, Production, and Leadership. Frequent coordination with General Superintendents and Human Resources required; ability to work/influence across functional lines (Manpower Dispatcher, Superintendents, Field Managers, Safety department, Shop, and Allan Myers University). Candidate must represent the company in a professional manner, and conduct all work in accordance with the company's policies, procedures, and programs with a focus on safe operating techniques.

Responsibilities:

    Provide support to achieve the Build our Builders mission goals.
  • Provide oversight & accountability to the Step-Up program.
  • Daily communication with General Superintendents on issues and schedule.
  • Assist business units in identifying laborers who could be targeted for future operator training.
  • Conduct Task Testing to ensure Allan Myers has the best available operators.
  • Assist the Shop with resolving equipment abuse issues.
  • Make recommendations to the Equipment Managers with regards to equipment types, models and sizes.
  • Establish and monitor Operator Qualification procedures.
  • Ability to manage and multi-task multiple projects at one time and in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ability to work under pressure, shift priorities in a changing environment, and self-direct with good business judgments.


Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Experience in multiple trade disciplines as a Field Manager or Superintendent in the Heavy Civil construction industry.
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful equipment operating experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, CMiC, SharePoint and other software that may be used to document training.

Necessary skills for an Equipment Operator Trainer include the ability to:

  • Establish collaborative interactions with office and field management and work within a team environment.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal, communication and written skills.
  • Implement appropriate training strategies and techniques.
  • Perform and maintain accurate recordkeeping.
  • Maintain confidentiality about personnel information.
  • Model safe, effective and efficient operation of heavy equipment and attachments.
  • Maintain equipment as a priority to ensure longevity.
  • Operator Training as required by regional operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Computer literate in technical software applications.
  • Adapt and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work overtime and have flexibility to accommodate the needs of the position.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires the ability to sit, use hands/fingers, talk and hear. Occasionally requires the ability to stand, walk, reach climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. May occasionally require the ability to lift up to 50lbs. Requires the following specific types of vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment varies depending on assignment and includes the field, shop and/or office setting. May be subject to moderate noise levels due to equipment operations.

Travel Requirements:

  • Frequent traveling to job sites within the business unit's work areas
