About the role

Reports to: Fuel Superintendent / With Shift Supervisor having ultimate decision-making responsibility on operations priorities

Position Description:

  • The dedicated individual is responsible for the evening Supervision of Fuel Plant Operations and its personnel. Responsible for Safe and environmentally compliant fuel side operations while maximizing Shredder and tipping floor production quotas. Coordinates operations and maintenance personnel during normal operations and scheduled and nonscheduled downtimes.
  • Depending on business needs and staffing at the time of hire and once the potential new hire(s) finish their training period, a schedule will be arranged between the existing fuel supervisor and two open supervisor positions, rotating nights/days to cover the 7-day operation.
  • Qualified individuals should be able to read and understand all company safety policies and programs, including Lock-Out, Confined Space, Hot work, etc., as well as process diagrams and blueprint drawings, technical manuals, and written and verbal instructions and procedures. Must be able to effectively communicate and motivate several direct reports, utilize maintenance software to schedule equipment PM's, submit work orders, locate inventory, communicate effectively with vendors and develop and implement various procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Reviews daily production goals, Fuel Side conditions, operating schedules, etc.

2. Makes plant rounds to check on operations, shredders, and associated equipment for operating efficiency, etc.

3. Manages fuel quality to meet plant requirements

4. Monitors operation of plant to ensure plant is running in compliance with good practice and company policies.

5. Serves as Fuel CLA, ability to write Work Clearance Permits

6. Collaborates with Shift Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor and Fuel Superintendent concerning plant conditions and plan of the day.

7. manages housekeeping functions and shredder hammer turns and changes.

8. Monitors shift reliefs

9. Reviews Service Requests prior to entry

10. Reviews Operator logs

11. Operates computer to access Maintenance Management program for equipment history and work order review, both corrective and preventive.

12. Hold daily safety meetings with shift.

13. Perform Operator training

14. Supervises: Rail tipper operations, Tipping floor operations, Shredding operations and Maintenance activities, Metals processing

Non-Essential Functions

  • Performs functions of other supervisor positions when required as relief or replacement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises 7 - 14 employees. Is responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Position Requirements

  • The successful candidate must have a recognized High School Diploma or G.E.D. from the State Department of Education.
  • Must be able to complete the facility Qualifying Standards as Operations Fuel Supervisor and other technical training required for the position.
  • The preferred candidate would have prior Supervisory experience.
