Scope of Position

The Department of Marketing, Communications and Digital Strategy is responsible for the overall brand management and communications and marketing activities on behalf of the entire Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute and the College of Medicine. This senior content specialist sits within the Growth Marketing and Reputation Strategy Team and will support the strategic goals of three key Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC James) programs: development signature events, Team Buckeye and Pelotonia.

Position Summary

The Senior Content Specialist for cancer signature events, Team Buckeye, and Pelotonia is responsible for planning, coordinating, writing, and producing various types of content, including advertising content, executive communications (both internal and external), print materials, event related content, and content for digital, interactive, and social media. This role supports the mission and strategic objectives of cancer's signature events, Team Buckeye, and Pelotonia. The Senior Content Specialist collaborates with leaders and Marketing and Strategic Communications colleagues in producing, editing, and proofreading content related to cancer development events, Team Buckeye, and Pelotonia. Strong skills in both traditional and digital writing and video storytelling are required. This position involves planning and creating high-quality content and distributing it through various communication channels traditional, interactive, social, and emerging technologies. Additionally, this role may require attending and participating in numerous events supported by this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in journalism, English or related communications field required. Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in communications, public relations or related field required. Experience writing/producing and publishing content within a content management system and social media channels. Strong problem-solving, writing, editing and proofreading skills essential. Must have excellent verbal communication skills as well as presentation and negotiation skills. Familiarity with photography, video, printing, budget management and content analytics preferred.
