The High Precision Devices team is seeking a Senior Mechanical Assembly Technician for precision mechanical instruments that incorporate cryogenics, vacuum, optics, and electronic components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:



  • Assemble mechanical units where extreme care, skilled workmanship, and accuracy are required to meet strict inspection, testing and operating specifications.
  • Solder and assembly fine, delicate wire harnesses which includes soldering under a microscope. Semi-rigid coax line soldering experience is a plus.
  • Development and qualification of standard operating procedures for manufactured products and manufacturing processes.
  • Actively collaborate with other departments to ensure continuous improvement of processes and products.
  • Works directly with management to determine and address and document root cause of manufacturing defects/failures.
  • Works directly with engineering on development and qualification of new manufacturing processes as required.
  • Performs testing and pack-out of sub-assemblies and full systems.
  • Participates in installation of systems at customer's site.
  • Independently conducts preventative and corrective maintenance activities at a customer's site.


Education, Experience, and Skills Required



  • 5 plus years of applicable experience in a STEM field. Experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Quality-orientated work and excellent attention to detail and workmanship.
  • Must have experience with a range of mechanical devices, tools, materials, and assembly techniques.
  • Strong soldering capabilities dealing with fine wire.
  • Accuracy, punctuality, good team and interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work from electrical schematics, mechanical assembly prints, and work instructions.
  • Maintenance of workstation, equipment, tools and materials.
  • Must have experience with a range of cleaning methods.
  • Good knowledge of common MS Office applications.
  • Experience in working with integrated ERP/MRP systems a plus.
  • Willingness to travel required - up to 30%
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs unassisted
  • It is important that the candidate is very productive and manages his/her time effectively with good organization and prioritization of tasks.


The pay range for this role in Boulder, CO is between $26.30 and $34.55. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
