Job Summary:

An International VAT Intern will utilize their research skills and apply their educational background while taking direction from more experienced team members to assist in consulting with clients in a variety of industries on global indirect tax matters. In this role, the International VAT Intern will be expected to perform research and analysis of various indirect tax issues, demonstrate the ability to solve problems, and work with both internal and external clients.

Job Duties:

Technical Duties:



  • Assists clients and BDO client service teams in developing ideas, structures, and transactions with a focus on indirect tax matters
  • Assists in researching, writing, and reviewing indirect tax advice to provide detail on what is required of companies and what foreign jurisdictions require regarding indirect tax.
  • Carries out research of international indirect tax matters
  • Supports more experienced staff to provide excellent client service and develop responses to client proposal requests
  • Coordinates with other Firm specialists and client service teams on client and proposal work
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:



  • Enrolled in a bachelor's or Master's program, required; focus in Taxation or Law, (LLM), preferred
  • Bachelor's degree, preferred


Experience:



  • Leadership experience, preferred


License/Certifications:



  • N/A


Software:



  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, preferred


Language:



  • N/A


Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions as directed
  • Strong analytical and basic legal and tax research skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and independently
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Seeks advice and guidance from superiors regarding issues related to tasks to be performed



Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

California Range: $37.00/hr - $41.00/hr
Illinois Range: $34.00/hr - $36.00/hr
Maryland Range: $33.00/hr
Minnesota Range: $30.00/hr - $34.00/hr
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $36.00/hr
Washington Range: $37.00/hr
Washington DC Range: $33.00/hr
