The Deputy Director of Operations will assist the Director of Operations in managing and overseeing the organization's operational processes. This role includes ensuring efficient resource allocation, optimizing workflows, enhancing productivity, and leading a team to support organizational goals. The Deputy Director will be responsible for strategic planning, operational improvements, and supporting the leadership team in executing initiatives areas associated with military munitions response, humanitarian mine action, and associated environmental-related services. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in directing the activities, coordinating resources, and ensuring complete operational performance required under customer contracts and related task orders. This includes communication and coordination with all customers including the U.S. Government, foreign governments, international organizations, host nations, Embassy representatives, and others supporting the seamless execution of tasks
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure smooth and effective workflow across departments.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment and achievement of organizational goals.
  • Assist in preparing and managing the operational budget.
  • Ensure resources (staff, technology, and equipment) are allocated effectively and efficiently.
  • Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
  • Support relevant capture efforts, pipeline development and maintenance, and portfolio management
  • Support, as required, the planning, prioritization, preparation, and negotiation of proposals and associated contract modifications.
  • Supports, as required, tactical and strategic program planning including forecasting, investment, teaming, acquisition, and organic growth for organizational targets and objectives.
  • Lead and support, as required, in compliance with all health and safety, quality, security, and environmental policies, procedures, and requirements, both internally and externally, for all organizational activities
  • Ensure that operations are compliant with all relevant regulations, policies, and industry standards.
  • Identify potential operational risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to ensure operational processes adhere to best practices.
  • Act as a liaison between the Director of Operations, other senior leaders, and operational teams.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments to ensure the successful execution of operations and initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of operational staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Provide guidance on departmental objectives and support staff development through training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Ensure all operational roles are effectively staffed and that employees meet performance expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, Physical Science, or related field from an accredited university or a combination of comparable education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum eight (8) years' experience with project/program/operations management
  • Minimum eight (8) years' experience in military munitions response (CONUS), humanitarian mine action (OCONUS), or associated environmental remediation projects or programs for U.S. Government, foreign government, and international clients and organizations
  • Qualified Senior UXO Supervisor (SUXOS) per Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board, TP-18
  • Able to successfully engage with and lead geographically dispersed and diverse teams
  • Strong collaborative and team/relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work in a challenging fast-paced, team-based environment, including outside normal work hours to include weekends, to meet tight deadlines for both internal company leadership and external clients
  • Polished verbal, presentation, and written communication skills to include technical and proposal writing skills
  • Ability to communicate program/project status and company practices with senior executives and employees
  • Solid background in cost analysis, earned value, and budget forecasting
  • Ability to provide oversight for multiple simultaneous pursuits, to include personnel, budgets, materials and equipment management, and schedules
  • Strong experience in conflict resolution, negotiations, and mentoring
  • Demonstrated leadership in addressing problems, suggesting/implementing solutions, and reacting to change with a high degree of attention to detail and foresight
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Project and/or Primavera Project Management software
  • OSHA 40hr HAZWOPER
  • OSHA 8hr HAZWOPER for Supervisors
  • OSHA 30hr Construction Safety
  • Must act with high ethical values and uphold corporate philosophy
  • Must possess valid driver's license and Real ID

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lean Six Sigma black belt certification.
  • Ten (10) years' experience managing large CONUS and/or OCONUS projects and programs
  • Prior experience and strong working relationships with several of the following organizations: USACE Military Munitions Design Centers in Huntsville, Baltimore, Omaha, and Sacramento; USACE Environmental and Munitions Center of Expertise; U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center; U.S. Army Range Support Center; Naval Facilities Engineering Command; Air Force Civil Engineer Center; U.S. Department of Energy; U.S. Department of State organizations to include PM-WRA and ISN/CTR; and various project and program offices within the United Nations to include UNOPS, UNDP, and UNMAS
  • Strong working knowledge of USACE EM 200-1-15, DDESB TP-18, IMAS, CERCLA, RCRA, and/or other U.S. Government, international government, and international accrediting bodies standards and best practices
  • Experience working within a variety of ISO certifications and accreditations to include 9001, 14001, and 17025
  • Current DoD Secret, DoD Top Secret, or DOE "Q" Clearance or eligibility to obtain a clearance upon employment
  • Current Project Manager Professional (PMP) certification with 5-years experience.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Pass an annual OSHA physical and a semi-annual drug screening
