DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This internship role involves engaging in professional public relations activities within the DEP Communications Office. Its primary aim is to offer an educational experience that equips interns with practical knowledge in the areas of environmental science and sustainability. Interns will gain a foundational understanding and a thorough overview of the diverse programs managed by a Regional Office, which may include Air Quality, Environmental Cleanup and Brownfields, Radiation Protection, Waste Management, Watershed Conservation and Restoration, Clean Water initiatives, Waterways and Wetlands, Safe Drinking Water Programs, as well as Mining and Oil and Gas operations, with specific offerings varying by region.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time internship that will last from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on a schedule that aligns with the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:
- Communications/Public Relations
- Environmental Studies
- Media/Journalism
- An approved major course of study at an accredited college or university
- Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
- Freshman year completed
- Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
