Mainframe Operating System Section Manager (Information Technology Generalist Administrator 2)

This position manages the Executive Software Operating Systems Section within the Operations Division of the Infrastructure and Economic Development Delivery Center (PennDOT, DCED, PEMA) IED TSO. The mainframe computing environment includes a z16 series processor with z/OS mainframe based applications and x86 workstations running client applications. This section is responsible for providing PENNDOT with a 24x7 around the clock production system and an effective and accessible test environment that facilitates the application development process and end user computing.

The Executive Software Operating Systems Section is responsible for managing the majority of all executive and third party software for the mainframe computer located at the outsourced Pennsylvania Compute Services (PACS) Ashburn Data Center. All new software releases and upgrades affecting mainframe processing are coordinated and approved through this section to insure that the integrity of all operating system software and communications software is maintained by the consolidated data center technical support groups.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as an Information Technology Generalist Administrator 1, Senior Applications Developer, Database Administrator 1, Data Administrator 1, Information Security Specialist 2, or Network Administrator 1; or
• Six years of information technology experience that includes three years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services; or
• Four years of information technology experience that includes three years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
• Two years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

• This particular position also requires three or more years of full-time professional experience working in an IBM Mainframe Environment.
