THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will oversee the programs and legally required laws and regulations of the Bureau of Animal Health and Diagnostic Services within the Region 7 area, focusing on the surveillance and management of animal diseases. You will lead a team of Domestic Animal Health Inspectors, evaluating investigation reports, offering guidance on assignments, regulations, and policies, and delivering veterinary services aimed at controlling contagious or infectious diseases affecting domestic animals.

This role is based at the home headquarters located in Region 7, which encompasses the following counties: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, and Schuylkill.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is home headquartered and requires travel within Region 7 area. (See above for counties covered)
  • The Veterinary Medical Field Officer Position is a challenging and exciting position that comes with a base salary that is negotiable up to $131,208.00. The position is also eligible for a performance incentive of up to $5,000 yearly once in regular status and if the selected candidate is board certified there is an additional quarterly payment as part of the compensation package.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of farm animal and/or poultry practice experience as a USDA accredited veterinarian.

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a license to practice veterinary medicine as issued by a state board of veterinary medical examiners.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position requires possession of a Class C non-commercial driver's license.

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
