Job Duties |
The primary purpose of this position is to support the fiscal, transactional, and regulatory operations of the
COE Office of Research and Innovation. This position supports all transactional, budgetary, and regulatory aspects of the College's grant portfolio. This position will interact with faculty members and departments engaged in funded projects, the
COE Associate Dean for Research, Personnel Coordinators, and the array of university offices responsible for pre and post award grant transactions, regulatory compliance, and budgetary and fiscal management.
Program Administration Support (60%):
Support the development and maintenance of files for external funding proposal submissions and funded projects. Support transactional tasks associated with personnel actions that support externally funded efforts. Assist in the preparation of regular updates and reports for the Associate Dean of Research and primary investigators. Support tasks associated with submission processes for proposals. Provide transactional support regarding proposal development, progress, budget design, award spending, budget forecasting, F&A processes, new hire processes, grant personnel compensation, compliance, and any other related needs to effectively submit, process, execute, and close externally funded projects.
Support the reported effort on grants process. Assist principal investigators with the development and submission of required reports on grant activity to the grant funder. Help maintain transaction files in accordance with
UNC
FIT and Grants and Contracts guidelines and respond to audit requirements. Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision and be proactive in organizing and completing assigned work. Participate in regularly scheduled grant development and implementation meetings.
Professional Knowledge (20%):
Help provide education and counsel to principal investigators regarding pre and post award processes. Assist in the monitoring and reconciliation of the distribution of F&A,
GCRT, and other related funds to the College of Education, the departments, and the PIs. Provide support in the development of grant proposals submissions. Demonstrate knowledge and skills utilizing the following systems:
ETRACS, Banner HR, Banner Finance,
ECU
BIC, E-Print,
ODS,
ERS, E-Grants, Grants.gov, AA Personnel SharePoint, Microsoft Office products, and any other systems needed to complete job duties.
Information Analysis and Decision Making (20%):
Prioritize daily tasks, tasks resulting from principal investigator activity changes and/or deadline demands, and unexpected and/or immediate tasks related to grant administration and workload schedule. Review all work for completeness and accuracy in accordance with all established policies and procedures. Develop systems to manage and monitor the operational and financial performance of the
COE Office of Research and Innovation on an ongoing basis. Monitor the
COE Office of Research and Innovation's performance metrics. Identifies and resolves operational issues. All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience |
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |

Certified Research Administrator Certification Preferred. Knowledge of programs and procedures for granting agencies, including federal agencies (e.g.
