Intern - Finance

As a Finance Intern your goal is to support the Turf & Consumer business unit through performance of accounting functions such as: month-end closing, reporting, analysis of operations, and other financial analysis process-related activities.

  • Timeline: Summer 2025
  • Duration: full time in summer with potential to continue part time into school year
  • Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week in summer and 16 - 20 hours per week during school
  • Pay: $16.50 - $18.50/hr depending on level in school

You will do this by:

  • Supporting functional staff by supporting month-end closing which includes: calculating accrual/reserve balances and discussing calculations with management for subjective nature accounts to arrive at decision; analyzing general ledger account data for accuracy and adjusting accounts if necessary; booking various other journal entries and statistical key figures.
  • Preparing reports daily, weekly and monthly which may include but not be limited to: sales, inventory, production, raw material purchasing, and cost of quality.
  • Supporting functional staff by reviewing variance account posting for accuracy throughout the month, assists with correcting system transactions.
  • Reviewing detail of accounts and following-up on month-end closing items when necessary.
  • Reviewing account reconciliations on a monthly basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university studying toward a Bachelors degree in specified function (Accounting, Finance)
  • Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Advanced computer skills including advanced knowledge of and experience working with spreadsheet software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in related function

Additional Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Analytical skills necessary to review/analyze accounting and financial data, substantiate financial statement balances and prepare financial statement account reconciliation
  • Ability to identify, measure, evaluate & improve, if necessary, the effectiveness of accounting, financial, managerial and operational controls
  • Good verbal & written communication & interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse group of people in a team environment
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects with a strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Possess poise and the ability to interact with people in a professional manner
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving and analysis skills
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
